Red wine like a Merlot or Cabernet. Not a sweet dessert wine. Dessert wines are interned to be the entire dessert all by themselves. They do mix with sweets like chocolate.

Two nights ago I had a triple chocolate cake with a 2004 DaVinci Chianti  Reserva and it was exquisite. So I now added that to my chocolate cake wine list.
