What is a sure way to get rid of ants without calling a exterminator if all else has failed?

Bought everything from wal-mart you can imagine and tried all the old wifes tells too.

Use a mix of cinnamon and sugar. The ants will pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.

There is a product from anthro that you sprinkle around the nest.  The workers will take the food to the gueen, she will eat it and die.  Then the colony will die.  Check Lowes.

What were you looking for at Wal-Mart?  That's were I found what I needed to rid my house of ants.

Comes in a (I think) a 5 gal container with sprayer on the side.  It's easy to use and doesn't harm pets.  The sprayer shoots out a single line rather than spray.

First I put this around the out foundation of our home.  Shoot for just above were ground meets house.  Next I sprayed around deck the same way.  Now I did the inside of our home.

Did around floor boards in each room, and don't forget the basement.  Doesn't take long at all.  We had a cat and there wasn't a problem.  Remember, no harm to pets.

I like to sit on the deck in the early evening and to my surprise, there were no "daddy long leg" spiders on the deck at all.  During there season, they're all over the place.   It was nice to sit on the deck and not be bothered by the spiders that want to walk on your head.

Sorry, don't remember the name of the product.  However, you should find it near garden supplies.  They could have put it outside.  Check it out or ask.  Read instructions so you get the product you're looking for.

I went to exterminator to buy the pestiside they use and sprayed around the perimeter area of activity (sink countertop, baseboards etc) the stuff dries and keeps killing them days later. Ants are funny I think they communicate because they stopped coming and sent  fewer the next year, just becareful not to eat around it for a few days then wash off. Dont remember what the product was but it kills all other bugs too, if you find what the active ingredient is I think other stores may carry it cheaper

Unfortunately it sounds like you've used-up your options.

Before you waste more money and time, these dont' work: chalk, baby powder, boiling water, cinnamon, bay leaves, essential oils, motor oil and some others.

An exterminator will be able to cure your problem. A good exterminator will be able to do it in a week.

Start calling around. Find someone who's 100% confident they can CURE your problem, not just control it.

Ants are easy to cure.

Dry banana peels in the oven, and crush them, and mix them with an equal amount of brown sugar, then sprinkle this mixture wherever your ants are.  It really really works.

If you know where the nest is, you can pour a pot of boiling water on it and it will instantly kill the ants in the nest.
