Its just a small area that contains icons to show you some programs running in the background.

If you have windows, the system tray is in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.  Basically, this shows icons for a number of programs that are running in the background (ie. Messenger, virus scan, etc).

Another word for your System tray is your taskbar . If your using Windows, its the bottom panel with Start on the left , Icons and time on the right , and your window tabs in between.

Bottom right-hand corner of the screen, next to the clock.  There should be a few icons there.  That's your "system tray".
