  1. It means all parts of the meal are included in the price as opposed to a la carte which means each thing is priced separately.

Table d'hote menu would be like steak, french fries, steamed broccoli for $16.00.

A la carte would be steak $12, french fries $2.50, broccoli, $1.50.

  2. It is a menu offering a complete meal with limited choices at a fixed price. Also known as prix fixe, it offers a meal consisting typically at least one appetizer, soup and/or salad, a main entree and a dessert. There may be a choice of any or all of the courses, usually limited to two or three choices for each course.

It may also refer to a communal table for all the guests at a hotel or restaurant, otherwise known as "family style", where guests "pass the plate" and eat together, sharing the food offered (think a large Thanksgiving type of meal).

  3. It's French: Table d'hôte. It basically means that the place is offering a limited menu at a set price. It's sometimes called "prix fixe" (or, fixed price).

  4. a menu offering a complete meal with limited choices at a fixed price

  5. It's just a menu.  Whatever foods they serve.
