I want to get a teddy bear hamster but I want to make sure that they live for at least a couple years. I take really good care of my pets. Just don't want to find out that it's likely to die in a week. Gah.

  1. If they don't get sick, then 2-3 years is the average- some people have had them live longer, but over 3 is hitting 'old age'.

  2. My teddy bear hamsters all lived approximately 2 and a half years each. Make sure you look after them well and this can prolong their life. Try clean the cage at least once at week or even twice if possible. Make sure their sawdust and bedding is kept clean and dry.  Making sure hammy has a wheel to run on and a ball to run around the house in will also ensure hammy gets lots of exercise.  I have heard of some teddy bear hamsters living as long as four years old.  Look out for signs regularly on the hamster to see he/she is healthy, wet tail and diahorrea are common in hamsters and often fatal so make sure hammy gets off to the vet if he/she has any symptoms. Goodluck!!

  3. It depends how good of a job you do taking care of them they can live up to 4 years but hamsters do get sick

  4. 2-3 years depending on how well you care for your pet.

    Good Luck!!!

  5. Syrian hamsters can live between 2-3 years based on their genetic disposition and quality of care given to them by the pet owners.

  6. The average life span of a teddy bear hamster is 2 to 3 years. It's the same thing as a Syrian hamster. I own one! :) I hope this helps!
