  1. A toll saver, is usually a setting on an answering machine, so that when you call in for messages, it will answer on the first ring.. If you have no messages, it will ring for the preset time, (2, 3 or 4 rings, etc.) Giving you a chance to hang up after the first ring or two and save any charges.
