I'm trying to write a paper on fish distributions and I've come across this journal article that says that this fish is attracted to topographic reliefs.

It would be stupid to include something in my essay that I don't understand so I tried to google search the meaning with not much luck.

So, what is a topographic relief?

  1. It has to do with what elevation the substrate is at....a fish may feed only on the flat bottom of a lake which would make the relief low or it may only feed on steep hills which means the releif is high

  2. The fish are attracted to areas that have a specific topographic relief-meaning very little differences in elevation or quite a bit of difference in elevation.
