I'm looking for a traditional craft made in Panama. It must be somewhat easy to make (no sewing). If you know the name in Spanish, please post it.

  1. you could try shaquiras, they are bracelets made with beeds and you could make your own designs. that's the easiest thing i could think of.

  2. look at some websites about the kuna (cuna?) indians.  they do lots of stuff.

unfortunately as others have said, not easy....

chakiras (beads) are easy if you just string along some nice patterns like the kuna  indians do.

    molas require sewing.

i am sure you could find some painters and try to imitate their style  the central ameircan style is somewhat similar in many countries....but panama has a carribean and south american influence as well

  3. Nothing is easy, easy.   Sorry.

Molas (by the kuna indians, sewing involved)

Tembleques, beautiful flowers for the head, in the pollera dress, very dificult to make and involves fish scales.

Sombrero pintado, the hat used by campesinos

Sculptures made of a stone called piedra de jabón, cocobolo wood or a very hard seed called tagua.

Chácaras. a bag made of weaving strings.

  4. The easiest one is a oil painting by a good painter in Panama with the image of any place or something that makes you think in Panama.

For me is best thing that you can take from here cause youll see it every day in your house or someones.

Hope this work for your request.

If you like that, i can help you to find a fine and a very good price painting.  My email is castillodominici@yahoo.com

  5. Under-water basket weaving!  lol

  6. Molas,and tagua nut carvings.
