  8. Uh... Its long and looks like a bunch of boxs put together and it goes "Choo Choo!"

  9. Train:  "An engine, with or without cars, displaying marker."

Engine:  "A unit propelled by any form of energy, or a combination of units operated from a single control, used in train or yard service."

The "marker" application immediately makes a train out of equipment.  Without the marker, it is only an engine with a string of cars.

When engines are running "lite" (no cars) the rear headlight is displayed on dim.  This is the marker making that engine a train.

In daylight, a red marker is displayed to the rear of the cars being handled.  It can be cloth, metal, plastic, it doesn't matter.  It must be red.

At night, FRED (Flashing Rear End Device) comes alive and the red light marker begins to blink.

So, if you're watching a yard engine (goat) pushing and pulling cars around, you're not watching a "train."  You're watching a goat push and pull cars around.

No marker = not a train.
