  1. also there are different types of metals used on the tubes on the frame of bikes.

Old school, bikes were steel, then came stainless, then aluminum, then titanium, now they make frames out of carbon fiber that are wicked light.

  2. a Tube goes inside the tyre & holds air. The tyre goes on ur wheel.  for pushbike, about $ 4.00   for a cheap on in big W

  3. There are TWO Different kinds of tubes on a bicycle.

There is the rubber "Inner Tube" which holds air in the tire.

    Costs about five dollars.

    And

There are metal Tubes (very similar to metal pipe) that the bike is made of. The metal tubes are different from the plumbing pipes which carry water in your house.

Frame Tubes cost more money if they are special alloys.

The goal is to make the bike out-of the strongest and lightest material.

Mild Steel is very cheap, but the bicycle will weigh about 50 pounds.

Chrome-Molybdinum steel is stronger than mild steel , so the tubes can be made thinner to save weight. "Cr-Mo" bikes will usually weigh about 35 pounds.

Aluminum is lighter than steel. an aluminum bike will usually weigh about 27 pounds.

Titanium is stronger and lighter than aluminum, but is very expensive. Expect the price to be over six thousand dollars, and the bike will weigh under 22 pounds.

Carbon fiber is a composite material, it must be glued and not welded. Carbon Fiber costs about seventy dollars an ounce. A carbon fiber bike will weigh about 18 pounds and cost as much or more than $20,000.00.
