What is a typical range of costs for teen car insurance?

I have to say - this field is RIPE for a good consumer survey that gives some general ranges of insurance by state or region. Nearly everything online - (correction - EVERYthing) on line links to get quotes from insurers (commercial sites) . Fine, but suppose a kid is in the early stages of learning about cars and parents are new to the kid driver insurance game and they just want to get a feel for ranges of prices based on region, car type, first time driver, male/female, etc. Let's assume a modest new car in the $25,000 new range and a responsible kid with middle income family - good insurance history. The new driver is added to current parent policies. Is the range $1000 to $3000? Or narrower ... $1500 - $2500.

  1. there is not a "typical" rate but if you visit http://www.COMPAREusINSURANCE.com you can find the policy you want in minutes

  2. I have seen insurance go up by 800-over 5,000 by adding on the first teen driver. The best bet, and easiest way to save money is to find a company that will actually let you rate the driver to the vehicle they drive and NOT the highest rated driver to the highest rated car (which is what a LOT of them do). If you can find a company that will do this, buy a car that you'll not need full coverage on. This will save the most money.

    Also, a good resource is...

    Best of luck to you.

  3. There is no absolutely answer for your question. However, explorer the information here will give you some ideas.HOpe it helps.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/ca...

  4. It also depends on the teenager's time that he or she has already had driving, not necessarily his or her age. Also, if the young one has only gotten his or her permit there is no additional cost to you to add him or her to your policy, but that changes if the teenager is driving on his/her own. I would strongly suggest shopping around in person, because what you find online may not necessarily be accurate (they may just want to get you in the door). Shop around. From what I've experienced it even varies from agent to agent within the same company.

  5. Much, much wider.   Probably $1,000 to $12,000.

Depends on car, coverages, location, credit score, family driving history.

See, if it's liability only, it will be the $1,000.   But as soon as you add collision & comp, it's going to jump to a $3,000 to $8,000 range, unless you're in FL, NJ, or NY, or another major metropolitan area, where it can hit five figures pretty easily.

  6. The costs are wildly different.

Among other things: Age, drivers ed course(?), accidents, violations(?), location where garaged has a tremendous effect. You can live one door across a city line into a county and have a vastly different rate than your neighbor on the other side of the line.

Also there are red lined areas  where an insurance company will either not write insurance or will charge arbitrary rates. These are hard to prove, but they exist,

Best bet: Ride on parents policy if they are agreeable.

  7. It depends on the car (beyond the price) where you live, and whether the car is garaged.  The "where you live" part is HUGE.

  8. All vary. I know your situation. These people really helped me out they are at
