A union is supposed to be a group of like minded individuals working together to create a better life for themselves.

Pro-  can't just be fired, benefits (medical, etc)

Cons- costly (union start up fee, plus monthlys), getting blacklisted is VERY bad, if you have a problem, it can take months to get it attended to let alone solved, if the company that has the union doesn't cooperate, the WHOLE union goes on strike (= no pay, bene's, the whole picketting thing)

I've known people who lost their cars and homes because the union went on strike, think Kroger foods.
