I know that healthcards are not accepted here, but i do not have a DL and i really do not feel like bringing my passport with me to a bar to get drunk and then lose it. Is there anything else i can provide these people with to show that i am over 19? A citizenship maybe?

  1. There are 5 pieces of government approved ID that will show that you are over the legal drinking age:

    1) Passport

    2) Driver's Licence

    3) Armed Forces Card

    4) BYOID Card (Available at most LCBO stores, but you have to bring them another form of ID to prove that you're over 19 to get one)

    5) A Canadian Citizenship Card with a Valid Photo

    Hope it helps :)

  2. how about your birth certificate...anything that shows your age

  3. Valid ID's in Ontario include:

    - Canadian Passport

    - Ontario Driver's License

    - Age of Majority Card

    - Armed Forces I.D Card

These are the only ID's accepted at Beer & Liquor Stores to verify age of majority for purchasing alcohol. If you go to any LCBO you can get the necessary forms to apply for an age of majority card.

  4. If you don't want to take your passport, I believe that you can apply for an Age of Majority Card. The forms should be available at a local LCBO store or you can call Service Ontario at (416) 314-1234 for more details. Good luck.

  5. any type of photo id with birthdate is acceptable

  6. All these answers are correct. Or you could just go in, order a drink and see what happens. If they won't serve you,  make yourself look older some way. Dressing like a skateboarder doesn't help, try dressing up. You're not breaking any laws looking your age. You could also carry a photocopy of your passport, and if they ask, tell them why.

  7. If you are going to a Night Club you will need your passport. If you are just going to Dinner you could ask for a drink and see what happens. It sounds like you dont live there so it would not make sense to get an ID card while you are there. You could also make a copy of your passport and try to use that and explain that you did not want to risk losing the original.

  8. It's amazing how much this province of ours depends on the DL as legal idea.  People who do not have a DL for whatever the reason are royally screwed.  I work retail and to obtain a credit card from the company I work for (a big USA owned company btw) one needs to have a DL, a valid passport, military ID or Age of Majority card.  When I phone for authorization on somebody account to Head Office the person on the other end of the phone always asks for the customers DL number!  None of these forms of ID are easy or cheap to obtain. The passport is a rip off because it only lasts for 5 years - most other country's passports last for 10 years.  Soon as Canadians we will need a passport to enter the USA so I guess a lot more people will be carrying a pass port then ever did before!  What a money grab that is for the Feds!

But as to your question I say like a lot of the other answers - get an Age Of Majority Card. Take care and good luck with it. *hugs* JAC<

  9. you can get a "of age" card at the LCBO, its called a BYID.  You can show your healthcard as a second piece sometimes, so take your birth certificate too and that might work.  Other then that, a passport is really it because they want something with a picture on it.  Good luck and have fun dancing the night away!
