Katherine is 100% correct.   However, even though it is a thick spread it is to be spread thinly.  If it is your first try then it should be spread very thinly.   The taste is savory and delicious.

It's a sandwich made with Vegemite, a yeast extract product made by Kraft. Vegemite is very popular in Australia, but hard to find in America. England has an equivalent product called Marmite, but it's not as good.

A light spread of butter first.. then a light spread of Vegemite and you get your Vitamin B does for the day.. I believe Americans overdo a lot of their sandwich spreads which is why most hate Vegemite. Small amount is best. Its also great for flavouring gravies and soups!!

Vegemite is made from concentrated yeast extract and is a very dark brown colour. It tastes rather salty and it is a thick spread. Its can be eaten plain on bread or on toast, or you can have cheese, and lettuce and vegemite is very popular too. Most people from overseas don't like it! i might suggest Tim Tams instead.(the best chocolate biscutes ever)
