  1. Don't think mowing lawns is the answer. First, most people that need their lawns done already have someone doing it. Second, its going to be winter for most of the country real soon. My advice is to register at one of those temporary companies. Sometimes you can find a company that might need you for a few weeks; otherwise, you can go there each day and they might need you to to different places. It's frustrating but it can et you through tough times.

  2. What skills do you have? There are some legitimate online jobs, but they usually require specialized skills or in-office experience. Things like writing, editing, and translating. As far as off-line self-employment, you could do handy-man type work, or lawn-mowing. You could start a delivery/hot shot business if you have a pick-up. I think mowing lawns can work for most people for a while anyway especially if you already have a mower and weed-eater and if you have an edger and blower even better. If you don't have any of these, you can pick some cheap ones up at the pawn shop. They will quickly pay for themselves. There are always people who don't/can't do it themselves and $30-$50/yard can really add up. The biggest piece of advice, if you do try this, is try to have a back-up mower just in case. Nothing is more embarrassing than having one break down half-way through a job and not being able to finish it.

  3. I know that online stuff is B.S., but for me I would just apply gor jobs in m line of work. Maybe that is not much help but it is the only thing I could think of. Being a nurse it has been a long time that I have been out of work.

  4. If you want an online job there are one or two that are legitimate as I held a job working for a company called LionBridge Technologies, who are contracted to do work for a well known search engine.

I left the job in the end as the hours weren't enough although the wage was good. If you're interested read my write-up below:
