unneccessary? The treatment from a professional, such as a doctor, or a teacher. For instance, a teacher (in her expert opinion) could suggest that a parent put their child through some treatment, which she condones as being appropriate, but could actually be unnessesary and cause more harm than good. Or a doctor might suggest a treatment to his patient, which might be somewhat medically sound, but the patient might decide that it excessive and is in his best interest to get a second opinion.
