  1. You might try Sasso's in Kingsclere.

  2. try "out of town " ..it is a restaurant which gives live shows and a disco..all in one evening ..you get picked up by mini bus and brought home later..it is fantastic..

  3. TRY THIS PLACE:-

    Elm Tree Inn,

    Beech Hill,

    Reading,

    RG7 2AZ

  4. The Fat Duck at Bray, or Le Manoir au quat' saisons

  5. Colley's Supper Rooms in Wokingham Road.

They charge a fixed price (upwards of £28 per head + drinks) which varies according to day and time of day.

You have a 5 or 7 course meal with a typical choice of 3 or 4 items per course.

They bring examples of the choices to your table so you can see what they're like before you make your selection.

It's all very civilised and relaxed and because there is only one sitting it's easy. Evening times are between 8pm and midnight usually (see web site). The meal is spread throughout the time period so your punctuality is essential.

Black tie is not necessary but lounge suits (and female equivalent) are appropriate.

It's noticable that when men (and women) who make a point of "dressing down" (or wearing sloppy jeans or other "I'm making a statement" stuff) really do look NAFF and aren't showing any respect to the restaurant or their fellow diners.

I always use Colley's for special (not formal) occasions such as anniversary or celbration meals. The ambiance, service and food has never let me down. You could pay three times as much in some posturing places (& be surrounded by gits) and not be as well satisfied.
