  1. You need to find a bag that is airline approved.  Usually it will say this on the packaging.  I wouldn't purchase a bag unless it specifically states that it is approved.

Most soft sided bags look like small square duffel bags.  They are often semi rigid and are somewhat padded.

Keep in mind that airlines limit the number of cabin pets per flight and that you must notify them in advance that you will be bringing a pet with you.  You will also have to pay a fee ($50-100+ each way) for your pet.

Some other things to keep in mind:  Your pet will need a health certificate to fly dated no more than 10 days prior to flight.  Once you enter the airport your pet must remain in the carrier until you exit the airport at your final destination.  Your pet is not allowed to walk on a leash in the terminal!  You should limit your pet's food and water for at least 12 hours prior to flight.  If your pet becomes disruptive on the plane you can be removed from the flight, possibly being offloaded at an unscheduled stop mid transit.  Your pet should wear a sung fitting buckle collar or harness with a tag that contains your cell phone number or contact info for where you will be staying during your trip.

  2. You should check with the airline's requirements on that.

  3. Definetly purchase a soft bag with holes for our pet. But i belive you'll have to purchase a ticket for your pet if you were to bring it in the cabin.

  4. when my family travels with our dog

our carrier is soft sided so and sudden movements

    wont harm the dog.

    hope it helps :)
