What is accounting?????

I need to know for my class i already have a few things but i think i'll get a clearer response from people not the internet itself I need a description of accounting and maybe where it's used

It's the process involved in making a financial record of business transactions and in the preparation of statements concerning the assets, liabilities, and operating results of a business.

Basicly its keeping up with money. Like in a business they keep up with all the finances, paying employes, the taxes and things like that.
