  1. Mylanta or other acid reflux medications can be bought over the counter at pharmasists, use as directed for two weeks to give your system time to adjust

  2. An over compensation of stomach acid.If you think you have it, make sure she talks to you more about.Be firm that you want more information.

  3. it is the back flow of acidic foods into the esophagus

  4. Another form of Heart Burn but it can cause pains in the stomach and chest. Tums should help.

  5. Acid reflux is a condition in which the sphincter where the esophagus joins the stomach fails, and stomach acid "percolates" upward into the esophagus.  It causes intense heartburn and can be harmless if it's a very occasional problem or potentially serious if it becomes chronic.

Chronic GERD (GastroEsophageal Reflux Disorder/Disease) can be almost disabling in some instances, causing intense pain and discomfort in the chest.  It can also cause cellular changes in the lining of the esophagus (Barrett's Esophagitis) which is considered potentially pre-cancerous!  Chronic GERD should be investigated and treated by a gastroenterologist, a doctor who specializes in diseases of the digestive tract.

Common treatments include medications to decrease the amount of acid produced, antacids, and surgical correction of the problem.  GERD should be taken seriously, as it can be both very uncomfortable and potentially dangerous.  Your doctor should have questioned you further and possibly referred you to a specialist.  I'd seek another opinion from a different doctor!
