What is active accomodation (about eye)?

the ability to focus things at near or distance by use of ciliary muscles to shorten or lengthen the lens in your eye.  it's not something you can do as voluntarily as flexing a bicep muscle, but most ppl under the age of 40 use active accommodation to focus material that is up close (ie closer than arm's length).
