"Active listening" is just paying attention to what is actually being said.  Maybe asking questions and putting it in your own words to verify you know what is being said.

Active listening is not a concept limited to environmentalists.  It can be important to any field where exact communication is important.

If environmentalists expect anyone to listen to them and change their ways, they need to carefully understand exactly what folks will tolerate.

For example, asking people to pay higher taxes and more for fuel to heat their homes, and lower their standard of living to freeze their a** off more days of the year ... does not resonate with anyone in America.
