  1. Don't forget the wing bridge.  That's for parking.

Just imagine how easy it would be to parallel park, if you had a steering wheel on top of the trunk lid.  On a big ship, that kind of flexibility really helps.

  2. A) the ship has to be big to have those different areas

    B) helps divide the ship and makes routine and organization easier

    C) Keeps higher up people away from stupid lower people like me =]

  3. having a forward bridge has the advantage of being able to see over the bow, being able to accommodate berths to the rear.

A centre bridge kind of meets this half way, giving several options.

A rear bridge option just makes it simpler to make the connections between engine and wheelhouse

  4. The bridge is the ship's equivalent of an operations center and is generally located near the top and front of a vessel.

The advantage is that from here, the commanding officer supervises the ENTIRE ship's operation, ranging from vessel course control to tactical systems.

Forward bridge gives you the advantage of what's ahead of you on the horizon.

Deck bridge gives you the advantage of a level battle sight.
