Well, you have to further explain in what context it's been said, 'What is advertising and understanding?'

the first part is finely understood but what do they mean by 'understanding'.

Advertising is about communicating to your target market whom you either want to inform about a product, promote the same, or want's to make an instant sale.

But as for UNDERSTANDING, is it about understanding...

- How to advertise,

- Who to advertise,

- When to advertise,

- understanding your target market, the people whom you are willing to advertise to?

It could be many things.
