  1. The core of the earth consists of two parts-the outer core and the innder core.  The outer core, which is liquid, is composed mainly of a nickel-iron alloy, while the inner core, which is solid, is almost entirely composed of iron.

The outer core is 2300 km thick and the inner core is 1200 km thick.

Earth's magnetic field is believed to be controlled by the liquid outer core.

The Earth's core is turning in an eastward direction and spinning faster than the Earth itself. Every 400 years, the core is a full turn ahead of the Earth.

The temperature in the inner core is about 9032 - 10832 ºF (5000-6000 ºC). The average density of the inner core is about 15g/cm³.

The temperature in the outer core is about 7200 - 9032 ºF (4000-5000ºC). The density of the outer core is between the 10g/cm³ and 12,3g/cm³.
