What is all of this yellow powder in atlanta?

For the last few days, everything in at least the southern Atlanta metro area is covered with a yellow pollen-like powder. This is my first spring down here, and I'm curious as to what this stuff is. If it is pollen, what kind?

Definitely Pine Pollen. It's the time of the annual yellow snow festival.

It usually occurs around the middle of March but with Global Cooling, it's coming later.

Likely pollen from pine trees.  They put out a tremendous amount of the stuff.

My first guess would be pollen. Are there similar trees in these areas??? If there are, then it probably is pollen (or some other substance from these trees).
