okay so next week i will be getting on a plane for the first time since August 23, 2001.

since that was before 9/11 the rules were of course much more different. I will be turning 19 at the end of the month, if that makes a difference.

i live in the st. louis area and will be going tho the Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. taking Northwest Airlines.

i will only be gone for 3 weeks, visiting my sister and aunt.

so i will only be bringing one big luggage and one carry on.

i want to bring my ipod and ipod adapter(the plug in kind). am i able to?

also, is it true that my mom cant come with me past security check? i have never flown alone, and was 12 the last time i was on one...i have never had to handle anything. i have never flown on northwest (i have flown on TWA and Southwest).

what can i bring, and not bring and is it possible that my mom come with me to a gate, or should i just get escorted by someone who works there?

  1. You can bring your iPod, etc. And food. The main restriction you need to know about is liquids. See www.tsa.gov or Northwest's website for details.

Your mom cannot come to the gate with you. Nor, at age 18, do they escort you unless you have a disability that requires that.

Don't worry, it will be fine.

  2. here is the list it looks as though your ipod is fine just no rechargable batteries.

no liquids.some arilines charge two dollars per drink water included so make sure you carry loose dollar bills

  3. Carry-on Allowance :You can carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase within the following restrictions:

    • Weighs 18 kg (40pounds) or less

    Doesn’t exceed 45 inches (length+ width+ height)

    • Fits in the overhead bin or the underneath the seat in front of you.

Domestic Travel (within the U.S./Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean) Coach Class: Effective May 5, 2008, each ticketed passenger is allowed one (1) piece of checked luggage.

Checked Baggage Allowance : International Travel - between North America and Africa / Asia / Europe / India / Middle East) Coach Class: Each ticketed passenger is allowed two (2) pieces of checked luggage.

Excess Baggage Rules : For all extra, oversized, and overweight items, you're required to pay additional fees. For each bag weighing 51-70 lb, you'll be charged an additional amount of $125, and for bags between 71- 100 lb is not acceptable. There is a fee of $80 for per oversized bag.
