  3. it's a BT Talk  broadband phone,i have one and the prefix is 056

  4. 05 x*x is a non geographic number as defined in the (last) renumbering we went through. It has been set aside for "corporate networks" and "personal numbering".

However as has been stated, thr 056 prefix whist not exclusive is being used by BT for it's VoiP calls service.

    Hope this helps?

  6. I think you'll find that 056... is a number allocated to people who use BT Talk. It allows them to make calls through their internet connection. Many people are now requesting regional numbers instead for this service to enable friends/family to remember the number more easily.

  7. Are you in the UK?  If you are, read this article, it looks like a special area code for internet calls.
