  1. Near as I can tell, an Alaskan Bulkhead is basically a glass enclosure for the cockpit on a power boat. It can have either a sliding glass door or a door on hinges. I think the advantage is that you're out of the weather but still have a good view, not to mention that if you wanted to take an essentially open boat and enclose the cockpit so you could heat it, you can do that.

    If there's a con, it'd be the construction of the bulkhead itself. You'd want to make sure that it could be fastened in a structurally relevant way so that if the boat were pooped or capsized, the bulkhead wouldn't become more of a hazard than a help.


  2. An alaskan bulkhead is a glass enclosure for weather protection,  usually between the helm and aft deck.  Seen on smallish fishing boats in Northern climates.
