  1. A anecdotal is something possitive that happen in that childs day.  Like Sammy is working on writting his name he can write his S and A and Y but still needs help with his M's.  Not sure if that helps but it is an example of how we write our anecdotal's :)

  2. An anecdotal record is written in past tense and is an account of a child's experience.

Generally, you would have an 'Observational Question' and the aim of the Anecdotal Record would be to answer that question. Also, in my experience, the anecdotal record is accompanied by an analysis of the actual occurence, e.g

Observational Question: How are the child's gross motor skills developing?

    Homecorner, 26/10, 11.50am

    Observation:

Child was in the home corner. She had a bandage on her left foot. She put the crutches down and started hopping on the spot on her right foot.

    Interpretation:

-Balance -Able to hop on one foot

    -Seems to prefer right foot
