What is an EVDO plan with Sprint?

I'm purchasing the HTC Touch MP 6900SP and was told I might need the EVDO plan with Sprint. Huh?

EVDO in simple terms is Sprint's high speed Internet access for your mobile phone.  It's suppose to be broadband speeds when surfing the Internet on your mobile phone.

I recommend it if you're going to have a phone like an HTC touch.  You're going to want internet access.
