  1. The Emperor of Japan is a constitutional monarch, the same as in Britain,Holland,Denmark and others. It is an hereditary position An Emperor usually rules over an empire but,in the case of Japan,It was because there were many regional kings who would pay obeisance to the emperor. The Emperor of Japan has no real authority and, much like the Queen of England, signs official documents, welcomes visiting heads of state and attends official functions.I hope this helps.

  2. "Under Japan's present constitution, the Emperor is the 'symbol of the state and the unity of the people,' and is a ceremonial figurehead in a constitutional monarchy (see Politics of Japan). The Emperor of Japan is the last head of state entitled Emperor in the world." -- Wiki

This would compare to the Queen of England, in a way.. no power to hold sway over the government.. just ceremonial.

  3. An Emperor is a male ruler of an Empire.  An Empire is a government that expands over noncontiguous lands with noncontiguous cultures.

Back in the day, Japan was much more than just the Island of Japan.  Same with England and France and a few other countries around the world.

Basically it means a land or Kingdom that went conquesting and such and expanded their lands beyond their borders.

    Think Rome.

  4. An Emperor is just that he/she is like our President, he/she makes the decisions for their country, and one emperor usually in in office for a long time, like in Japan,India, countries like that. They are the ones I beleieve is over all the countries offices, Eygpt has emperors, kings also. I hope this helped you.
