  1. If your pawn is located next to the opponents..(same row)  then you can move your pawn diagonally behind the opponents pawn and take the piece.

This can only be done when the opponent moves his pawn 2 spaces from the home row next to your pawn and must be done on the immediate next turn or you lose your chance.

  2. its where one pawn uses the 2square move to avoid capture by another pawn.  In this case the pawn can capture the other pawn as if it moved one square

  3. Whenever your opponent uses the 2 square move in order to "pass" your pawn; it allows an attack of opportunity. Upon your next move, you have the choice to take your opponents pawn by moving to the adjacent diagonal square.

  4. it's when the two pawns are next to each other, and one has moved three spaces, and the other has moved two. the pawn that has moved two takes the other pawn by moving diaganoly behind the other one

    kinda confusing srry :)

  5. google not working for ya?

  6. The Pawn is the only piece that can carry out this manoeuvre (Level-1).   French: in passing, by the way.   A rule according to which a Pawn, after making the optional initial move over two squares [FMO], may be taken/captured by an adversary’s Pawn, which makes the capture exactly as if the initial move had been over only one square.   This PA rule dates from the 15th century of the 2nd millennium.   The :ep rule was introduced to prevent a Pawn evading capture by being moved 2 squares forward on the first move.   A special kind of Pawn capturing move.   If a PA advances two squares on the first move and lands on a squar adjacent to an enemy Pawn, then the enemy Pawn can capture the advancing Pawn on the next move - as though the advancing Pawn had moved only one square forward.   Italian: ‘passar battaglia’.   The :ep move was first used in the 15th century but not globally adopted until 1880.  You may like to visit my personal web page at: http://www.chesmayne.info where the en passant move and other rules of chess are discussed.

  7. when your opponent immediately takes out a pawn on his first move

  8. where if your opponent moves a pawn to spaces and you 1 to you pawn directly in front of it thus letting you kill it or something like that tip use Google when in doubt

  9. THe first move of a pawn  MAY  be two squares.  If a two square move

goes past a pawn, the opponont has the OPTION of taking the pawn diagonally as if it was only moved one space

    en passent....."in passing"

  10. The link below has pictures but it is essentially a move whereby pawns can still be taken if they use the ability to move forward 2 spaces as their first move and pass a threatening pawn in the next column. The pictures explain it far better than words can!
