  1. Advisory Circulars are issued by the FAA and usually are used to clarify current policy.  So, if the FAA notices similar operational errors and it seems it could be created by confusion to a policy they will put out an AC.  If you goodle "FAA Advisory Circular" on Google you should be able to review some.

    These are different than Airworthiness Directives (AD) which tend to pinpoint serious mechanical/ structural issues.  These can be procedural as well, but in terms oof how they relate to current structural/ mechanical isssues.

    The AC is a "suggestion" while the AD "requires" action.
