I asked a question about a law and they said the police could trace your I.P. but I was also talking about the internet so could it be Internet Profile?

  1. IP stands for internet protocol. The police can track your IP for certain things, but for others it takes a court order and the help of your ISP. Which of course is fairly easy to get.

  2. It's your IP address. Basically it's traceable only to your connection and they could track you that way.

  3. Generally, I.P. in a legal context is short for "intellectual property". But, in this case it stands for "internet protocol". It's the address composed of a string of numbers that the cops get from your internet service provider (ISP) when they want to run a trace. it usually looks something like this:

    123.456.789. 0
