Question:

What is an Oracle Application Server?

I have to log into a site, and every time I do, an Oracle Application server window opens up with me logged onto it already. I don't want to click on it because I have no idea what its about. Is it safe? More importantly, is it supposed to happen?

  1. I believe that you're seeing just another web application. It might not actually be intended for you to see. Do you have JaveScript disabled? Check out the link.

  2. Oracle is famous for running database systems for BIG businesses. When the internet came along they re-positioned their software products to run stuff off company servers.

Seems like you stumbled across a gateway that runs Oracle stuff. Whatever it is you're trying to access has been setup to run on something made with Oracle's product.

If you know what the site is about and it is a legit site the Oracle Application warning is just marketing hype to say "Look! This thing is an Oracle thing!" - whatever the Oracle thing (application) might be.

I wouldn't stress unless you know FOR SURE the website is legit.

If what you're saying is that a second window pops up and just says your name as "logged in" - don't worry. Just minimize that window or keep it open.

Have you tried closing it to see if it kicks you out and stops you from using the rest of the site - ????
