what is the actual definition of an acceptance speech?

Acceptance: the act of taking/receiving something that's offered

Speech: expressing ones thoughts through oral communication, the act of speaking

You're not going to be able to look up the phrase "acceptance speech" in the dictionary and find a definition.  You'll have to formulate a definition based on the definition of the two words acceptance and speech.  So based on those definitions I just gave, what would be an acceptance speech?  Perhaps expressing gratitude for a gift/honor received by the speaker, orally expressing one's gratitude or pride in the gift they accepted, etc.
