What is an advantage and disadvantage of using herbal medicines?

Advantages:

-They are typically cheaper, less toxic, and work better in the long run than prescriptions

-They work to help the cause of the problem, not just cover up the symptoms like prescriptions do

-They are natural and often have next to no side effects, warnings, or cautions because of that

Disadvantages:

-They typically take longer to work than prescriptions (nature of the beast)

-Since they are natural, some of them smell/taste like c**p (some herbs just reek)

Disadvantage, the manufacturers or sellers of "herbal medicines" aren't required to demonstrate scientifically if their treatment actually does what it says. if you think your sick and need to take something, go to a doctor.
