The fender standard HSS strat is much better.  It comes with quality electronics and is made with quality american material in a factory close enough to the U.S. that it is controlled by americans.  Made in mexico is a bit of a misnomer, although legally it is made in mexico i suppose.  Epiphones are made in asia somewhere, and lack quality, although they arent bad.   I'm a fender endorsee, and I can get a fender hss strat for free,  but back when i had only a partial endorsement, I think i got it for around 300 or so.  My freinds who had an epiphone endorsement usually got at least 50% off, because epiphone marks up their prices so much.  Thus said, fenders are usually a better value.

ps im not hating on epiphones, theyre just overpriced.  i own a few myself.

Dude, man, its the Epiphone les paul, I habve found that useful because it has a longer fretboard, but that for me, you might find the fender strat better!

i wud go with the Strat beacuse they hav been around longer and u wud probley get a better sound because it is bulit better and has better pickups on it.

The Epiphone is iffy, since Epiphone is made cheaply it wud sound bad, and u wud get what u pay pay for.

But sometimes Epiphones are made like Gibsons (1 in 10 guitars)

So i wud go with the Fender bcause u wud get a better sound.

and for that price i wud buy it.

Epiphones are cheap overpriced Japanese guitars. The fender strat is the much better choice. If I were you, I would buy just the standard Mexican Strat and put in a Seymour Duncan JB Junior. Those humbuckers sound better than the ones in the HSS Strat. Check out my strat.
