  1. Anything that is not currently mass-marketed and produced.

  2. alternative fuels are oils or energy producing fuels that are more healthy for the environment

  3. If it passes all of the following:

Does not emit carbon into the enviroment

Is renewable (the fuel has a limitless supply)

  4. Alternative Fuels, also known as non-conventional fuels, are any materials or substances that can be used as a fuel, other than conventional fuels. Conventional fuels include: fossil fuels (petroleum (oil), coal, propane, & natural gas), & also in some instances nuclear materials such as uranium. Some well known alternative fuels include biodiesel, ethanol, butanol, chemically stored electricity (batteries & fuel cells), hydrogen, methane, natural gas, vegetable oil, biomass, & peanut oil.

Now alternative (or renewable) energy is a little different…

Renewable energy flows involve natural phenomena such as sunlight, wind, tides & geothermal heat. Each of these sources has unique characteristics which influence how & where they are used.

Short but sweet that’s the specifics of it. If you’re interested in using some form of alternative fuel or renewable energy in your vehicle or home, feel free to contact me. I live 100% off the grid on alternative energy and have converted many vehicles to run on biodiesel, ethanol, hydrogen and EV.

In fact I currently run 2 trucks, my home hot water heater, home stove and home generator on hydrogen and one car is EV. I offer step by step DIY guides to walk anyone threw the process if you’re interested. You can find them at

Hope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions,

  5. Alternative fuels are sources of enery other than or as a substitute for petroleum or oil products (gasoline and diesel).  Fossil fuels include  oil, coal, natural gas and propane (LPG including material released from a landfill). Other fuels that may include some fossil fuels but are generally made from alternative products are termed alternative or substitute fuels.

Ethanol (made from corn, sugar cane and cellulose) and  the fuel E-85( 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline), is used to power flex-fuel vehicles. M-85 (methanol whcih comes from fossil fuels, plant material and even residential trash) is another alnternative fuel.

Of course, ultra-low sulfur diesel and  biodiesel, vegetable oil and other biomass sources are other altnerative fuel choices.  Batteries, such as nickel-metal hydride and lithium ion batteries are used to help genrate poweer for hyrbid vehicles. In addition, hydrogen  and hydrogen fuel cells are being tested for generating power in cars and for homes..  CNG (compressed natural gas)  and LNG (linquid natrual gas) are mainly ways to transport natural gas. Of course, the sun (solar power), wind, and hydro-electric power  (dams, ocean waves etc.) can be included as alternative fuels.

Some of these alternative fuels are being used to power vehicles right now. The Toyota Prius hybrid (gasoline/electric) car was the 13th best-selling vehicle in the U.S. in 2007, according to our firm's research. . Some countries are even further ahead of the U.S. with vehicles powered by alternative fuels.  Brazil has had a long range strategy for energy dependence for many years, which takes advantage of the country's excellent growing conditions for sugar cane and the ability to convert that sugar cane to ethanol. 6. Generally, any fuel that isn't derived from crude oil.

It's currently in vogue for talking about biofuels, like biodiesel and ethanol, but it can just as easily be used to describe the compressed natural gas or propane used in some flex fuel vehicles, particularly busses.

  7. Here's a car that runs on compressed air and is the "World's Cleanest Car".

" After fourteen years of research and development, Guy Negre has developed an engine that could become one of the biggest technological advances of this century. Its application to Compressed Air Technology(CAT) vehicles gives them significant economical and environmental advantages. With the incorporation of bi-energy (compressed air + fuel) the CAT Vehicles have increased their driving range to close to 2000 km with zero pollution in cities and considerably reduced pollution outside urban areas.

The application of the MDI engine in other areas, outside the automotive sector, opens a multitude of possibilities in nautical fields, co-generation, auxiliary engines, electric generators groups, etc. Compressed air is a new viable form of power that allows the accumulation and transport of energy. MDI is very close to initiating the production of a series of engines and vehicles. The company is financed by the sale of manufacturing licenses and patents all over the world."
