  1. Well, first of all, you should have asked your TEACHER what it meant. If you were embarassed to do so, why not do it after class? But I digress... By analytical discussion, she probably wants you to analyze it (A little dictionary.com could have helped you out there. No need to waste 5 pts. on a question like this.). However, from what you gave us, it's hard to tell WHAT she wants you to analyze or whether or not she's letting you choose the topic of your discussion. If that's the case, you can analyze Austen's stylistic approaches, themes, characters, settings, whatever appeals to you. Still need help? 2. It means analysis. Try analyzing the themes, etc. Pick a thesis and prove it using quotes from the book and literary criticism.

A good way to write this kind of paper is to find good quotes, and then build arguments around them. Make sure to have good transition.

You can also analyze it from a particular point of view, such as feminist, marxist, or psychoanalytic. They're all analysis. Pick the one you can write the best in.

That should answer your question on analytical. As for how to write that paper, ask your teacher what he/she wants to see.
