Question:

What is an appropriate tip for sandwich delivery?

We're having a Secret Santa lunch this Friday, and having 20 sandwiches delivered. The price comes to $83.00. How much should I tip the driver? I miscalculated how much everyone should pay so will be out of pocket as it is (I got Coke, Pepsi, etc., plus the Sam's Club multi-pack of chips), and don't have a ton of extra money but want to tip the person appropriately.

Thanks!

  1. I'd give him $105 and thank him.

  2. $5 is good

  3. how much is out of pocket? it is the holiday season!! i know everything is tight this time of year so you can do 2 things suck it up and give a holiday tip a normal tip would be 3 to 5 bucks but holiday i would make it 10 bucks .  or take the receipt and tell everyone you made a boo boo and get the rest of the money and don't forget to add the tip in it.

  4. I'd say about $15.

  5. Tip him with a sandwich.

  6. Even if you miscalculated, you should recalculate and go back to everyone and collect their share of the balance.  The tip should be standard 15 - 20% depending on the speed, friendliness of the delivery person and service (does he help carry them to where you need them to go?).  I have organized a gazillion parties over my life and took the hit of extra money too many times and learned that others who do the same, come back and ask for more money if they need to.  So, I do too now.  There is no shame in making a mistake.  Don't pay out of pocket except for your own share.  :-)  Enjoy your party!!
