What is an aquaduct?

I was asked a question in a quiz a couple of weeks ago and i got it wrong. i never found out the answer so what's an aquaduct?

its a great place if your greedy and dont care its just a good place to find garbage to recycle or maybee waste cause why would you want something clean i know i enjoy anything that has a 800 times more than the federal limit allows and that fish that are usually tuff die or anything thats small and doesnt have a voice it should be abused

The word is also used for any bridge that carries water, similar to viaducts, though they carry water instead of a road or railway. Sufficiently large aqueducts may also be usable by boats or ships. While a road bridge often carries the roadway at a more elevated level than the rest of the road, such a variation of height is not possible for an aqueduct.
