  1. atom is an indivisible particle which forms the base for each substance. It consists of electrons protons and neutrons. Neutron is the heaviest of them all then proton and then electron.

  2. The idea was coined by greek philosophers (Plato?).  If you take a substance, say like gold, and you slice it in half, you are left with two smaller pieces of gold.  How many times can you slice it in half and still have gold?  The point at which, if you sliced it in half, you would no longer have gold is called an "atom".

Atoms are composed of Electrons, Protons and Neutrons (which themselves are composed of quarks).

  3. its a guy named adam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. It is the smallest amount of an element that will retain the distinct properties of that element.  If you break it down any further into its constituent parts such as protons, electrons and sometimes neutrons, it won't have any of the same characteristics or properties at all.

  5. an atom is a basic elemental particle consisting of a nucleus of protons and neutrons, with a surrounding area of orbiting electrons.

Each element on the elemental table coincides with an atom with a specific number of protons.  Examples include oxygen (#8), Hydrogen (#1), Magnesium (#12) etc.

  6. for example, H2  is molecule . H is atom.for  O  atom  atomic weight is 16. for  O2 molecule has  molecular weight is 32

    molecule is composition of atoms

  7. go find ur science book

  8. An atom is an indivisible particle which make up the matter. The name atom came from the greek word 'atomio' which means indivisible.

  9. atom is the fundamental particle which make up the matter..
