What is an auto dealer's documentation fee?

Above tag, tax, title, etc, Rick Case Hyundai in Roswell, GA wanted to tack on this fee of $599 at the very end of negotiations.

Doc fees are c**p! Just like a processing fee in a mortgage.  It is a way to try to maintain or increase profitability in the deal.  With today's market....walk the h**l away!  They figured you were emotionally attached to the car and/or sale, and wanted to "slide one in".

It's just more profit for the dealer.  Don't fall for such c**p !  Tell them to take the $599.00 off or tell them to take a hike....I personally would never ever buy from them after trying to pull something like that.  You may want to spread your story and their name all over Roswell and all over the web.

$599 for doc fees is outrageous!!!!

It should not be more than $100...if even that!
