What is an auxilliary cemetery?

It's an addition onto a main cemetery. It is usually created when the main cemetery runs out of room and they add on additional acreage.

Going by the meaning of "auxiliary" as supplemental or additional, I would assume it's a cemetery, of the same district and probably the same name, at a second location ... likely because the first cemetery was becoming short of space or possibly a new location was desirable because the parish or district expanded or changed boundaries.
