What is an average monthly salary for Dominican Republic residents.?

I would like to relocate to DR and did some research on what the average salary would be, but I was shocked when I saw it, it's alot less then what rent is, so how do people manage. Please help, does anyone know.

They have homes where many people share the household.

It's getting that way in the US also because Americans' paychecks aren't keeping up with inflation.

I'm a resident here in this wonderfull country and I live well.

So, the salary is depending your skills and knowledge.

Of course some salaries here are very low, but the people here are paid for their value (skills/knowledge) so....

Rent? between 3.500 pesos and sky is the limit.

My mom won apartment buildings and houses which she rents in the Dominican Republic in a province of Higuey -La Altagracia.  It all depends on the size of the house/apartment, area, just like here in the us. Unfortunately, the average salary in the Dominican Republic tents to be very low even if you are a college graduate; A teachers salary is a joke. The majority of people in DR won houses so it's easier on them. Also  a family with 3 adults, 2 of them will usually work.

Much of what was already written on here is true. Typical monthly salaries are as follows:

5,000 pesos for a bartender/wait staff plus tips

6,000 pesos for house cleaning services

6,000-10,000 pesos for security personnel

10,000 pesos for bank staff

20,000+ pesos for call center personnel

Use an exchange rate of 33.80 pesos for 1 USD to get the dollar figure.

Rent is anywhere from 2,500 pesos to 15,000 pesos per month depending on location, and what you are getting (swimming pool, a/c, furnishings, etc).
