What is an easy and cheap way to learn Italian?

anyways, there are LOTS of language learning websites on the web...just choose a well known one because if you don't then you might be learning slang rather than the real thing

i would take a class just to learn the basics then move from there onto cds and books.

i listened to those tapes they have (learn while you drive) and learned some stuff then took a class.

those things i learned in class i could never learn from cds or books alone. every so often i go back and listen to the cds and more and more little details make sense. now i learn conversationals stuff through movies and chat.

they have forums and a dictionary with real phrases we use every day.   i think learning is sort of a multimedia approach..
