  1. spray some starting fluid or wd40 around the gasquet area, (Or where you think the leak is) if the idle increases, you have a leak

obviously, be careful with flammable items

  2. NOt the best with cars, but my dad used to check for leaks with a smoker, he would put smoke in the end and if it had a leak, you could see it coming out of a hole. Its not just any regular smoke though, I think its designed for these situations.

  3. crank car and spray it with wd40 or anything like it choke cleaner works also.. if its sucking air it wil change the way the motor is running and you wil know about where its at.. is how its done at most  shops quick and easy

  4. use a spray bottle with soapy water. with the motor running spray all gaskets and hoses. if you have a leak you will notice the RPM's surging up and down

  5. Got an old windex bottle? In vietnam,[no auto-zones around] we  would spray water around the intake with the engine running. When you hit a leak, you'll hear the suction, but more noticeale, you'll detect a change in the way the engine idles.

Make sure that all the vacumes are plugged on the carb and that you have good gaskets.

                                    "BRILLIANT"!!!!

  6. use carb. cleaner spray on slowly and listen to see if engine smooths out or use a tach.  engine must be running at idle. tach is best ... ..
