What is an equivalent to amazon.com in Italy?

Question

I'd like to send a birthday present to Italy but order it from the US. I've done this before with the UK and German amazon but there is no .it version. I'm not sure how to find an equivalent web store based in Italy.

Well, you could always order from amazon.com...they will ship internationally, although there are restrictions, and if there is any customs duty assessed on your shipment, the receiver is considered the importer of record, and will be responsible for it.  If you're just planning on sending a book or CD or something though, it shouldn't be TOO big of a hassle.  Check out this website for all of amazon's international shipping restrictions:
